Be a Voice for the World’s Children

The ONE Campaign is an historic pact for compassion and justice to help the world's poorest families overcome AIDS & poverty.

The campaign will rally Americans to speak with ONE voice—encouraging our political leaders to do more to fight global poverty and AIDS. The campaign is asking for an additional ONE percent of the U.S. budget for international aid. (We currently spend only one half of 1% of the federal budget on international aid.)

What will the ONE campaign do? Why ONE percent?
Giving an additional ONE percent of the U.S. budget would help:
  • Prevent 10 million children from becoming AIDS orphans
  • Get 104 million children into grade school
  • Provide clean water for nearly 900 million people
  • Save almost 6.5 million children under 5 from dying from preventable diseases
Is the campaign just about more money?
No, the ONE Campaign will also press our leaders to work for more equitable trade agreements with developing nations so that eventually people everywhere can support themselves. Debt cancellation is another ONE Campagin issue—forgiving old debts so that developing counties can redirect that money toward food, education and health care for their own people.

Who is involved with the campaign?
Plan USA helped to found the ONE Campaign, together with CARE, Save the Children, Bread for the World and other leading humanitarian organizations. U2 lead singer Bono (pictured at the ONE Campaign kickoff in Philadelphia), actor Brad Pitt and NY Knicks star Dikembe Mutumbo have all lent their vocal support.
