Women in your community: a panel discussion
Organize a panel discussion of influential women in your community and hear what they have to say about girls’ rights! The issue of girls’ rights isn’t just important in other countries; it affects girls’ lives every day in the US as well. Women in your local community have struggled to succeed and have used their available resources to reach important positions in our society. Give them an opportunity to share what they’ve learned!

Poster competition
Hold a poster campaign! Organize an Art contest/Public awareness campaign with the theme Because I am a Girl. Invite participants to design their posters. Tell them to include the text “Because I am a Girl” somewhere on the poster. Be creative! Posters could be photos, poetry, collages, drawings, paintings, carvings, words, symbols for sign language, 3D images, brief testimonials from girls in your community and abroad, symbols, bumper stickers, the sky is the limit! Talk to a school advisor, art teacher, or local establishment about setting a deadline for the contest and letting students display their work. Hold a gallery night to show off the posters!
Female battle of the bands
Organize a female Battle of the Bands! Talk to a school official or community center about hosting the event. Invite female bands to participate. You can charge admission at the door and use the money to donate to a girl-related cause. Or, have audience members vote for their favorite band with Dollar Votes- For every dollar they pay, they are allowed to vote for their favorite group. Pool all the money together and donate to the cause of your choice! Make sure to include an info table with statistics about girls’ rights, information about the Because I am a Girl Campaign, and advocacy petitions!

Volunteer at a local women’s resource center or shelter
Contact a Women’s Shelter and see what you can do to help them out! Many shelters need assistance with goods and materials. They might ask you to host a food or clothing drive, come in to organize their food pantry, serve a meal or provide entertainment! Contact your nearest shelter and let them know you care!
