Improving the World One Girl at a Time

Since its inception, Plan's Because I am a Girl initiative has improved the lives of more than 100,000 girls worldwide. Through donations, raising awareness, and advocating for better laws and regulations, Because I am a Girl is improving the lives of girls across the world everyday.

Plan and the Because I am a Girl initiative have already experienced some great accomplishments with the help of donors and advocates, such as... 

  • 224 Better Life Option Program Centers have provided life skills education to 5,599 girls in Nepal
  • In Guinea, a Plan project to reduce adolescent pregnancy has seen a drastic increase in the contraceptive prevalence rate in girls and young women - from 6% to 75%
  • Plan's Village Savings and Loans programs have given 10,000 women in Cameroon access to basic financial services - meaning that they can better care for their children
