Carlos Alfonso Aparicio Gómez was a part of Plan's sponsorship program in Colombia for 13 years. Today, he is a member of Plan Colombia’s Board of Directors and is the Director of Inter-institutional relations at Bogota's Central University.

When Plan opened a new program unit in Thies, Senegal in 1986, Nogaye was the first registered sponsored child. Her mother also benefited from Plan's work when she joined a Women's Association which was developed and supported by Plan.
