Plan at a Glance
Lifting millions of children out of poverty.
Children are the future. Yet millions of boys and girls living in the poorest regions around the world are denied the opportunity to reach their full potential on a daily basis. And that’s just unacceptable.
Founded in 1937, Plan International is a nearly $800 million international development organization supporting programs in 50 developing countries to break the cycle of poverty. Working side-by-side with children, parents, and policymakers in each community, Plan develops sustainable projects to provide the most basic of child rights: clean water, schools, healthcare, food, financial security, and protection from sexual violence and exploitation.
To reach the most vulnerable and marginalized girls living in extreme poverty, Plan created the Because I am a Girl initiative. The goal is to directly impact and improve the lives of 4 million girls by 2016 through empowerment and education.
