April has been a very exciting month for Because I am a Girl!
We would like to thank all our dedicated supporters, who have helped us get to over 500,000 likes on Facebook! With your help, we are raising even more awareness about girls' issues in the developing world.

Last, but certainly not least, we would like to showcase the story of one of our wonderful fundraisers. Malika recently raised enough money to donate 60 bicycles to girls in Burkina Faso, making their journey to school much safer.

Violence is Not the Answer
Were you aware that violence against girls has become an accepted norm in El Salvador? In a country with a population just short of 6 million, that means over a million girls under the age of 19 at risk of being a victim to violence.
The good news is that supporters like you are helping to educate and empower these young girls.

Youth Leadership Summit
Did you know that Plan has programs right here in the United States? It’s true—and this July, Plan will again host its YUGA Leadership Summit for U.S. teens.
The Summit is a five-day global learning extravaganza. At the end, teens return home ready to campaign for change in their communities!
