Celebrate Malala Day!
What is Malala Day?
July 12th is Malala Yousafzai’s 16th birthday and she is marking the day by giving her first high-level public appearance and statement around the importance of education. This day, Malala Day, can be a new beginning for education and the leading role that youth around the world can play in enabling all children to get an education.
In support of the United Nations Secretary-General’s Global Education First Initiative, young leaders from around the world will convene in support of reaching the goal of all children, especially girls, in school and learning by 2015. The UN Special Envoy for Global Education and the President of the United Nations General Assembly will host a series of events at the UN Headquarters in New York.
