Freida Pinto and Plan to Illuminate the Empire State Building

The Empire State Building will remain lit from sunset
on October 10th until 2 a.m. on October 11th.

On Thursday, October 10th at 12:30 p.m. actress Freida Pinto will light the Empire State Building pink and white in a special ceremony honoring the second annual International Day of the Girl on October 11th.

The International Day of the Girl recognizes girls' rights and the unique challenges facing girls around the world. In order to highlight these barriers, Plan has led the call for this world day as part of its Because I am a Girl initiative.

While so much progress has been made in advancing girls’ rights, there so much more that still needs to be done! The single, most powerful way to achieve girls’ rights is through education. On the International Day of the Girl, Plan is calling for urgent action to ensure that all girls and boys receive at least nine years of quality education.

Joining Pinto for the ceremony will be Tessie San Martin, Plan International USA’s President and CEO and youth delegates: Tulsi, Bipika, Tatiana, Helene, Malika, Omneia, and Asmaa from Nepal, Burkina Faso, and Egypt, respectfully.

The Empire State Building will remain lit from sunset on October 10th until 2 a.m. on October 11th.
