Plan worldwide annual review and accounts 2009

Millions of children registered, the launch of a new global campaign to end violence in schools and a return to Hong Kong are some of the highlights in Plan's worldwide annual review and accounts 2009.
The review sets out Plan's progress toward our vision and mission between July 2008 and June 2009 and focuses on how Plan's partnerships have helped to improve children's lives across the world.
Despite the difficult economic climate, Plan’s income stood at €468,000,000 - a decline of just 1% on last year - while our expenditure on programs rose 2% on last year to €348,000,000.
Highlights
The year saw many highlights for Plan, including:
- 40,000,000 births registered since the launch of our Universal Birth Registration campaign four years ago;
- The launch of Plan's global Learn Without Fear campaign to end violence in schools;
- Plan returned to Hong Kong, opening a fundraising office where over 50 years ago we helped some 12,000 children and their families out of poverty; and
- Plan worked with over 1,000 national and local government institutions, over 300 international and national non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and over 1,000 local NGOs.
