Plan collects school supplies for children in Haiti

Plan’s Youth Engagement and Action (YEA) team is collecting school supplies to help children in Haiti re-start the school year.
Plan will be providing new backpacks, notebooks, pencils, and other school supplies that are currently needed for children to resume their education after January’s earthquake.
Over the past 3 months, Plan has been on the ground in Haiti providing relief and support to affected families and communities. Plan spoke to the children of Haiti about their needs, fears, and dreams for their future and the future of Haiti. The most common desire? Getting back to school!
So, Plan, UNICEF, the Haitian Ministry of Education and others have worked hard to officially re-open schools in Haiti on April 5th. More temporary classrooms are going up everyday to allow more children to return to school; over the past month, this work has meant that almost 6,000 students in Haiti could go to school.
To get more schools ready, the following supplies were requested by Plan staff in Haiti:
- Drawing books
- Ballpoint pens
- #2 pencils
- Rubber erasers
- Pencil sharpeners
- Crayons 12-color pack
- Plastic rulers
- Pencil Holders
- Standard size notebooks
To help us, Plan is asking for schools around the U.S. to hold school supply drives to help get Haiti’s children back to class. We ask that all supplies donated be new.
Supplies can be mailed to:
