Skills training for young Zimbabweans
Thousands of young Zimbabweans take the dangerous journey across the South African border every month in search of a better life - only to experience abuse from their employers, the police and traffickers.
Plan's income-generating projects, skills training and awareness-raising campaigns are giving young Zimbabweans an alternative to migration and a chance to break the cycle of poverty.
Watch the video and meet Joyce, aged 19, who was kidnapped and abused by traffickers as she crossed the border. Now back in Zimbabwe, she is taking a Plan-supported dress-making skills course and looking to set up her own business.
“What would I be doing if I didn’t have this course? Nothing, because I have dropped out of school," says Joyce. "The course is going to sustain me and I am confident I am going to look after myself."
