See how Plan is responding to floods in Pakistan

August 19, 2010

With heavy rains still falling, Plan continues to send life-saving aid to those affected by the Pakistan flood crisis. Donate today to help Plan provide emergency relief to affected children and families.

An estimated 20 million people have been affected and at least 2 million have been left homeless by the flooding. According to the UN, 1/5 of the country – tens of thousands of villages - is currently underwater.

Working with local government and partners, Plan teams remain on the ground in the Punjab and Sindh regions distributing emergency supplies - including shelter, food and water, child nutrition packs, and health and hygiene kits to prevent disease outbreaks.

Women and children are particularly affected by the crisis, and Plan is focusing on meeting the needs of these vulnerable populations. Child protection remains a priority, as well as providing emotional support to distressed children and caregivers.

As floodwaters continue to rise, more and more people are being forced from their homes, and the overall need for emergency support continues to increase rapidly.

Donate today to help provide emergency relief to children and families affected by flooding in Pakistan.
