Become inspired, connect with others and work for a better future at YUGA's Leadership Camp!
Join YUGA (who is YUGA?) and meet friends and allies from around the country who are interested in global issues such as poverty, HIV and AIDS, climate change and child exploitation (child labor, child trafficking and child soldiers).
This year's camp (July 19-25, 2009) will bring together a committed group of youth for a week of interactive workshops, community building and outside activities in New England.
What is the YUGA Leadership Camp?
The YUGA Leadership Camp is a peer education program designed to help youth build their leadership skills and gain in-depth knowledge on issues affecting youth around the world. YUGA camp gives youth the resources and abilities they need to go back to their schools and communities trained and energized to raise awareness about global issues like poverty, HIV and AIDS, climate change and child exploitation.
Each year YUGA selects a diverse group of passionate and committed young people to become YUGA leaders. Throughout the year YUGA leaders work to run four action campaigns and activities in their schools and communities to raise awareness and take action on global issues and show there are ways to make positive change in the world.

Applying to YUGA Leadership Camp
The YUGA Leadership Camp is looking for a diverse group of young people who have a variety of interests and skills, and a desire to get involved in global issues.
The YUGA Leadership Camp online application is comprised of some basic personal information and questions about your interests in global issues. The application must be submitted online in its entirety and is due by May 15, 2009. All participants will be notified of their acceptance by May 30, 2009.
Apply to be a YUGA Camp Counselor
Are you at least 18 years old?
Been involved with YUGA for 3+ years?
Full of endless energy and enthusiasm for global issues?
If you have answered yes to the questions above, Plan USA staff wants you! We are looking for energetic and involved youth to serve as camp counselors during YUGA Summer Leadership Camp 2009.
Please read the job description and fill out the application. We hope to hear from you soon!
Cost of YUGA Leadership Camp
YUGA Leadership Camp costs $250.00 for the entire week. This fee includes all meals, dorm style accommodations, workshops and all activities.
Participants are responsible for travel to and from the YUGA camp; however, we will provide complimentary transportation to/from T.F. Green Airport, the Providence Amtrak Station and the Providence Bus Station.
Scholarships are available to qualifying youth. Scholarships will cover half of the camp fee, $125.00. Participants are responsible for raising the rest of the funds. All scholarship applications are due May 1, 2009. Print the scholarship application.
For some useful (and easy) ideas on how to raise money for the remainder of the camp cost, check out our Fundraising A-Z page.
