Torrential rains continue unabated in Sudan. The Government expects about 1 million people across the country to be affected by the floods, and its early warning center has warned there is a risk of flash floods. The most severe damage has been in the White Nile and North Kordofan regions. Khartoum has also been badly hit.

So far, 57 Plan communities have been affected; 33 severely. Almost 18,000 families in these areas have been affected. Houses, school buildings, water systems and sanitation facilities have been damaged or destroyed. The United Nations has warned that more flooding may be on the way.
