Images of Felix's aftermath

September 24, 2007
Puerto Cabezas is one of seven municipalities making up the Northern Atlantic Autonomous Region (RAAN, in Spanish) of Nicaragua. Funds are urgently needed for the ongoing relief effort in Nicaragua where, earlier this month, Hurricane Felix devastated much of the north-east of the country.

Plan is currently helping nine communities of the Upper Plains of Puerto Cabezas. Felix's winds destroyed 70 percent of all homes in these communities and 100 percent of all trees (including fruit trees). Eight out of nine schools were destroyed; the one still standing now has no roof. Because of the extent of the damage, many families are left without any shelter.
