Ramada's 11th Spaghetti Benefit for Plan USA
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NEW HARTFORD, NY (September 15, 2007) The Ramada Inn, 141 New Hartford Street, will host its 11th annual spaghetti dinner Tuesday, October 2, from 5pm-8pm to benefit needy children overseas. Tickets are $8. Tickets may be purchased in advance at the hotel’s front desk or by calling (315) 735-3392. Tickets are also available for purchase at the door. Dinner includes generous portions of spaghetti with meatballs, antipasto, garlic bread, dessert, and beverages. This family-oriented event is open to the public and meals can be ordered to take home.
Dick Alexander, the hotel’s owner and local contractor, will draw on the generosity of his workers and subcontractors to sell the bulk of the tickets. He is also inviting everyone in the surrounding area to enjoy his famous family recipe for the sauce and meatballs.
The Ramada Inn sponsors over 26 children through Plan USA, an international child sponsorship organization founded in 1937 as Foster Parents Plan. The funds raised will ensure the children receive benefits for another year. As a side benefit of the event, many of the subcontractors purchase meals to help local senior centers and others in need.
“Where else can you get a great meal at such a cheap price and help so many people at home and overseas,” said Tony Tsai, Ramada Inn General Manager. “Our goal this year is $7,500,” said Alexander, “We want to increase the number of kids we are helping.”
Ramada employees and volunteers from local businesses, as well as other prominent citizens and elected officials, will serve as cooks and waiters. Local distributors, Sysco and Maines, will donate food supplies for the menu. Plan USA will have photos of children on hand for those who wish to sign up personally as a sponsor
Plan USA sponsors contribute $24 each month to help over 1 million children, their families, and communities in 49 developing countries of Africa, Asia, and Latin America.
Ramada Franchise Systems, Inc., a subsidiary of Cendant Corporation (NYSE:CD), is a mid-to-upper-mid-market chain of over 900 Ramada Limited, Inn, and Plaza Hotel properties throughout the United States. To make a reservation at any Ramada property, call 1-800-2-RAMADA.
