KARITO KIDS DOLLS CHOSEN AS TOP TOY OF THE YEAR 2007, FEATURED ON “LIVE! WITH REGIS AND KELLY”
Connection with Plan USA Teaches Children about Diversity, Social Responsibility, and Charitable Giving

WARWICK, RI — Plan USA, an international non-profit humanitarian organization helping children in over 60 emerging countries, today announced its charitable partnership with Karito Kids dolls and their developer KidsGive, LLC has reached another successful milestone. The toys were selected by Family Fun Magazine as Top Toy of the Year 2007, resulting in a broadcast feature on “Live! Regis and Kelly” on October 8.

Karito Kids is a new line of ethnically accurate dolls designed to teach children about diversity, social responsibility, and charitable giving. The 21” dolls, whose faces were sculpted by an artist in Barrington, Rhode Island, are five pre-teen girls from five countries: Kenya, China, the United States, Italy and Mexico. Each doll comes with her own fictional adventure book and stories from her country.

“We are so honored that Karito Kids has been awarded the number one “Toy of the Year” by Family Fun Magazine in our flagship year,” said Laura Rangel, chief executive officer of KidsGive, LLC.

“What we love even more is that Plan USA is gaining national media attention through our co-branded relationship. It is our hope that as people buy Karito Kids and activate their online donation to Plan USA, it becomes their foray into learning how much fun it is to help others who are in need,” Rangel said.

Three percent of the $99 price per doll sold separately goes to Plan USA. Children are able to log on to www.KaritoKids.com to enter their doll's unique code and choose one of Plan USA programs to support with their donations: Growing up Healthy, Learning, Habitat or Livelihood. Charitable giving continues as the website’s interactive games allow children to build up virtual currency called “World Change” which are points that get converted into real money that KidsGive donates to Plan USA.

"Plan USA has been so supportive of KidsGive and the philosophy our Karito Kids brand brings to children,” said Lisa Steen Proctor, chief operating director of KidsGive, LLC.

“We’re thrilled to see the early success of our product and what it means for Plan USA in return and we’re hopeful that these awards and the media recognition that follows will translate into additional sales that will support the four projects within Plan," she said.
