BONUS system for storm-hit families

Plan's BONUS system is designed to help approximately 1,500 families affected by tropical storm Noel meet basic needs.
November 14, 2007
Each 'bonus' is worth USD 30 and can be exchanged for food and non-food items in local supermarkets and with distributors. In addition, families who have lost their homes and personal belongings will receive mosquito nets, mattresses and sheets. Families will be entitled to three bonuses each.
Plan's emergency program to support basic needs is expected to last until the end of November, when work will begin on recovery.
"Back to hope": Adolescents to receive recreational-therapy training
Plan is set to train 40 adolescents from Azua and Barahona on recreational-training therapy, which will equip them with the skills they need to help other children overcome problems affecting them. Plan will work with governmental and other non-governmental organizations on running the program, which is based on a methodology implemented by UNICEF in other central-American countries.
