Oh My Goddard! Plan International USA Executive Team to Compete in Sprint Triathlon
Members of Plan International USA’s Executive Team will compete in this year’s Oh My Goddard sprint triathlon on June 24th at Goddard Park in Warwick. Their participation will directly benefit Plan’s Because I am a Girl initiative.
Because I am a Girl creates sustainable projects in developing countries around the world to give girls access to basic human rights: clean water, food, healthcare, education, financial security, and protection from violence and exploitation. When a girl is educated, nourished, and protected, she shares her knowledge and skills with her family and community, and can forever change the future of her country.
Plan International USA’s Board Liaison and Special Assistant, Kate Ezzes, will kick things off by swimming 1/4 of a mile. Chief Information Officer, Chip Carter, will bike the 11.2 mile leg of the race, and President and CEO, Tessie San Martin, will be bringing it home by running 3.1 miles to the finish line.
“Because I am a Girl is a global effort to directly improve the lives of millions of girls around the world,” said Tessie San Martin, President and CEO of Plan International USA. “Competing in this year’s triathalon gives us the unique opportunity to raise awareness about the plight of girls in developing countries among our friends and families at home, while raising money to fund programs that will directly benefit those girls and their communities.”
