Plan International USA today announced Carol Peasley as the newest member of its Board of Directors. Most recently, she served as the President and CEO of the Centre for Development and Population Activities (CEDPA) from 2008 until 2012. CEDPA’s assets, including employee expertise, were transferred to Plan International USA on November 16, 2012.

“Carol Peasley is a tremendously seasoned leader in the international development community,” said Tessie San Martin, President and CEO of Plan International USA. “Her depth and breadth of knowledge in the sector – particularly in the women and girls space – make her an invaluable asset to our organization and our Board.”

In addition to her time at CEDPA, Ms. Peasley had a highly successful, 30-plus year career with the U.S. Agency for International Development, achieving the rank of Career Minister. She served on the Boards of Opportunities Industrialization Centers International (OICI), ShoreBank International, and the USAID Alumni Association. She holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara, a M.S. in Development Economics from Sussex University in the United Kingdom, and a M.S. in Management from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

“I am excited about joining Plan’s board and to learning more about the great work Plan is doing around the world. I am proud of CEDPA’s 37 year legacy of improving the lives of women and girls, and, among my other new responsibilities, I look forward to helping Plan carry that legacy forward into their important efforts on child-centered community development,” said Carol Peasley.
