The Goal Shooter: How a Health Program Changed the Life of a Girl in Uganda

A Plan International health program is helping teenage girls learn about menstrual hygiene.

Christine overcame one of the biggest struggles in her life and is now learning how to manage her period and stay in school.

“I received training on personal hygiene and how you keep yourself safe and clean with pads during menstruation,” she said. “Now I have nothing to worry about. I feel free.”

For a teenage girl, getting your period for the first time can be overwhelming. When you don’t understand what’s happening to your body, it can be terrifying. In Uganda, many girls miss school because of their period – and some drop out altogether.
