THE LEXINGTON COLLECTION JOINS PLAN USA AS PREMIER CORPORATE PARTNER
Upscale Brand Hotelier Supports Global Children’s Charity
Plan USA, a global non-profit humanitarian organization helping children in over 49 emerging countries, today announced a corporate giving partnership with The Lexington Collection of fine hotels, plaza hotels, and resorts worldwide. The Lexington Collection, under the leadership of its chief executive officer and president Steve Belmonte, will serve as Plan USA’s premier corporate partner.
“We are thrilled that the Lexington has joined as premier corporate partner,” said Ahuma Adodoadji, chief executive officer of Plan USA. “Mr. Belmonte and the entire Lexington hotel family have embraced our global efforts and designed a program that will benefit children in the direst situations.”
The Lexington Hotel-Plan USA partnership will be incorporated at the property level with each member hotel actively engaged in the fundraising effort. The project, called “The Lexington Dollar A Day Program,” is one in which guests elect to add a dollar to their bill for each night of their stay. One hundred percent of each donation will be given to Plan USA. Both organizations will be promoting the project through public service announcements and other marketing communications outreach.
The program proceeds will be applied initially toward construction of a primary school in San Juan, Dominican Republic, where hurricanes destroyed much of the area. With this project complete, funds will then be applied to school construction and projects in other developing countries where Plan USA works.
Interested parties will also be able to make a donation to the Lexington Dollar A Day program by visiting www.planusa.org/dollar.
According to Belmonte, Lexington Hotels chose to support Plan USA for the children, families, and communities in poor countries where there are no public safety nets, few assistance programs, no unemployment benefits, and, without Plan USA, little hope to make things better.
“It has always been my personal belief that no child should live without hope,” Belmonte said. “We are making a concerted push to make sure we give children a fighting chance in this world, and to keep hope alive.”
