Plan continues to help children and families in Darfur as millions are endangered by renewed fighting and a possible reduction in humanitarian aid.

As tens of thousands of people flock into already over-stretched camps in Darfur after fresh fighting, the possible explusion of a number of aid agencies (Plan is not among these) by the Sudanese government bodes disastrous for millions. Plan is not among the organizations facing expulsion and will continue to provide humanitarian aid to more than 160,000 people living in three camps.

Zamzam, one of the three camps Plan has worked in since 2005, has received 27,000 new arrivals, three-quarters of whom are children. The camp's population has swelled to more than 80,000, causing grave concerns about health and sanitation.

Facilities at the camp, including sanitation, water and medical care, are already massively over-stretched and money is needed urgently to help.

Help us assist children and families in Darfur

Since the start of the armed conflict in 2003, 300,000 have been killed and two million driven from their homes, seeking refuge in a collection of camps.

The people of Darfur have endured unimaginable suffering over the last six years. They have lost their land, homes and cattle — their lives are on the verge of collapse. Now, even more innocent families have been driven from their homes by renewed fighting and political uncertainty.
