“Hobsons employees know that education is one of the keys to a brighter future,” says Craig Heldman, CEO of Hobsons. “Working with Plan USA, we’re happy to be part of the educational change for kids around the world.”

Hobsons, a provider of solutions for educational professionals, is a company that believes in the philosophy of operating locally and giving back globally. In fact, it’s this philosophy combined with a commitment to help those who cannot rely on an automatic right to education that forms the foundation of Hobsons corporate partnership with Plan USA.

Projects have run the gamut from constructing a school and playground, to equipping schools with furniture, textbooks and supplies, to providing better sanitation facilities. Hobsons employees contribute to projects through payroll deduction and fundraising events.

Supporting a worthy cause
In April 2009, Hobsons sent several of its employees to Bolivia to get a firsthand look at what their donations were helping accomplish. They sent the following statement to us upon their return to the United States:

“While in Bolivia we were able to see a number of projects in La Paz and Santa Cruz implemented by Plan. Seeing the impact that each project has on the communities and people is amazing. Before the trip, we hadn’t realized how actually involved the communities were with the projects. Plan taught us that the real goal behind all the projects is to help teach the communities to sustain the project themselves.

They help out not only children, but communities and their education systems. Trips like this allow donors, like Hobsons, to see the direct results of every person’s donations. We left Bolivia with the hope and sincere optimism that, with our continued help, more and more communities throughout the world will be able to sustain a healthy and prosperous education and community.”

Corporate partners make a difference
As a corporate partner of Plan, Hobsons has worked with Plan over the past several years to contribute to improving the educational environment for children in Kenya, Vietnam and Bolivia. Next year, Hobsons' focus will move on to Ghana, in West Africa.
