One You, One World
To support educators and after-school program coordinators to bring global issues into their work with children and youth, Plan has created the One You, One World series in conjunction with Weekly Reader.
One You, One World introduces students to the concepts of child rights, poverty, child exploitation and the impact of HIV/AIDS. It shows how youth in other countries are involved in resolving these issues in their own communities and helps students gain a greater understanding about the situations facing young people all over the world every day.
One You, One World empowers students here in the U.S. to take action and get involved in campaigns that help make the world a better place for children and youth everywhere.

See Me, Share My World
See Me, Share My World is a tribute to the universal language of art and its ability to bond people through their common human experience.

Empowerment Through Art
Plan USA’s Empowerment Through Art exhibition aims to show the public that visual art can be used as a way to promote psycho-social healing.
In June 2006, artist Hilary Wallis teamed up with Plan to introduce a program to six communities in Uganda called “Empowerment Through Art: The Strength of Creative Human Expression.” Joined by local artist and friend Justin Impala, Hilary began to help teach community membersmany affected by illness, poverty and HIV/AIDShow to paint despite the challenges in their lives and to use their emotions as a source of inspiration.
The Empowerment Through Art program can be used as a vehicle for change. Exploring art as a form of social and emotional development enables people to connect with their own feelings as well as with other members of their societies. The healing power of art is a tool that can empower the individual, promote awareness of issues, and provide some foundations of growth within an entire community.

Plan UK’s Learning Center
Visit Plan UK’s new center for global teaching resources. In this section you will find a range of projects, games and teaching resources designed for UK classrooms. Each project comes with lesson notes, clear curriculum links and photocopiable activity sheets. There are also supplementary photo, video and audio materials to bring the topics to life. All resources are designed to help develop key skills in discussion, presentation, critical thinking and problem solving.
Choices for the 21st Century
We also recommend the Choices curriculum. Choices materials incorporate the latest scholarship to make connections between historical events and contemporary international issues. At the heart of each unit is a range of contrasting policy options. By exploring a spectrum of alternatives, students are better able to articulate their own views on pressing international issues.
Curricular materials are used in a range of courses including U.S. history, world history, global studies, and government. Materials include extensive background readings and a role-play or simulation exercise that encourages students to apply their knowledge in an authentic setting. Visit www.choices.edu for more information.
Post your own ideas and curricula!
Many educators have already designed their own activities for classroom or after-school use at different grade levels. These activities range in duration from one-class period to weekly to on-going projects. We are collecting some of these ideas and will post them to be shared with other educators.
If you have a global education classroom or after school activity that you would like to share on-line, please send it to Connie.Bevivino@planusa.org with a short introduction. We will select a portion of these ideas to share here with others and give you the option to be contacted by other educators about your ideas.
