In this video, young activists Kim and Maya explain how to build a successful advocacy social media campaign. Though managing one might seem overwhelming, it’s actually a fun and creative channel for pulling off a successful campaign!

Maya and Kim’s top tips on how to build a social media campaign:

Be consistent: Putting out regular, quality content will give you a wider audience and keep them wanting to see more.

Encourage interaction: Polls, surveys and other interactive tools can boost engagement with your audience and show them you are interested in their opinions.

Know your audience: Think about who makes up your target audience. What language do they use? What issues are they concerned about? Use this information and tailor your social presence to match.

Show why you care: Emphasize your connection to the issue you are discussing and invite your audience into your personal sphere. This will make you more relatable and authentic, and your audience will be more likely to listen to you.

Use hashtags: Draw a wider audience to your campaign by using hashtags.

Make content you love: Make content about the issues and campaigns you are passionate about. Your passion is what will interest and inspire others.
