Dex Carrington

Dex Carrington is an American stand-up comedian and actor. Before stand-up comedy, Dex was snowboard superstar Torstein Horgmo’s agent, a relationship that was documented in the 2013 film, Horgasm: A Love Story.

Dex has performed stand-up comedy all over the world, from Hungary to Hong Kong and everywhere in between. But he is best known for hosting Dexpedition, a travel show that gained an international following when aired for two seasons on MTV in more than 30 countries.

Dex’s father worked in the shipping industry and Dex was raised in Singapore and Hong Kong. Travelling throughout Asia, Dex witnessed several of the global challenges Plan International is working to resolve.

Dex graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the Sauder School of Business at the University of British Columbia. He later received a Master of Science degree from BI Norwegian School of Management in Oslo, Norway.

After graduation, Dex worked for large multinational corporations but left the corporate world to pursue his dream of traveling the world and making people laugh.

Dex became involved with Plan through Alex Lyngaas, a filmmaker friend and Plan International child sponsor.

In October 2016, Alex convinced Dex to travel to Uganda to star in a few short commercials for Plan. The end result was the full-length documentary film, There’s a Chicken in Uganda Called Adolf.

As a Plan International Ambassador, Dex sponsors three children. Shortly after his trip to Uganda, Dex organized a charity stand-up comedy event with the proceeds benefiting Plan programming.

He is currently based in Oslo, Norway.
