GE Foundation’s passion for supporting communities to build the skills and capacity they need to succeed in today’s global economy and to improve access to healthcare and education continues to be the foundation of its partnership with Plan International, which began more than 10 years ago.
In 2004, GE pledged their support to the Beacon for Ghana project, which targeted 10 schools impacting approximately 2,000 children. The project resulted in increased enrollment levels and school attendance in the Upper Manya-Krobo District and delivered an increase in the percentage of children passing the national competency exams in English and math; improved retention rates, particularly at the primary school level; and professional development for teachers and supervisors.
Today, GE continues to be an important partner, working with Plan in Thailand to empower young women on health rights and livelihood development. This project assists 90 vulnerable young women and girls in Chiang Rai Province of Thailand in realizing their rights to health care services and economic security.
Plan thanks GE for its longstanding support and commitment to improve health knowledge and practice of vulnerable young people and promote economic security through education and capacity building.
