In West Africa, opportunities for women in rural areas are scarce. Working with very limited means, Martine was making and selling bean cakes to support her children, but it was diffucult to provide them with everything they needed.
When she joined a local Women and Youth Saving for Empoerment (WYSE) program, access to loans allowed her to fund her son's education, put food on the table, and add an iron roof to her small home—all investements in the safety and success of her family.
"This project is really a transformational project," said Martine. "I would never have had this experience had it not been for my membership in WYSE."
