Meet Kema, a Sponsored Child from Liberia

Eleven-year-old Kema is a Plan International sponsored child from Liberia. She lives with her father, who is a rice farmer. Her mother died in a car accident during the Ebola epidemic that swept the nation. Without running water in her village, Kema and her friends collect water from the creek each day before school.

Plan is currently working on the health and water situation in the community. Kema enjoys school and her favorite subject is mathematics. Plan hosts lessons for her classmates about their rights. She wants to be a doctor when she grows up so she can treat people and save lives.
