Thirteen-year-old Satu is a Plan International sponsored child from Guinea-Bissau. She enjoys going to school, which was built by Plan International. Her favorite subjects are reading and mathematics. Satu is a member of her local child participation group, which meets every Saturday to talk about education, health, and children's rights.
When she comes home from school, she does her homework and then goes to help her father collect nuts from the family's cashew field. Using the profits from their harvests of corn, rice, and cashews, Satu's mother reinvests her money with a local savings group initiated with Plan’s support.
