Meet Vanesa, a Sponsored Child from Ecuador

Vanessa, a sponsored child from Plan International, has received disaster preparedness training.

Meet Vanesa.

The 8-year-old from Ecuador is a Plan International sponsored child. We gave her a camera to show us a day in her life.

In Ecuador, there are still many differences between boys and girls. Plan is working to teach children about their rights and gender equality.

We are also teaching children how to prepare themselves in the event of a disaster such as an earthquake through the Risk Free Zone project. Last year, the country was hit with an earthquake that claimed the lives of hundreds and injured thousands more.

Because of her training, though, Vanesa is now no longer afraid because she knows what to do in emergency situations.

Plan to make a difference!
