Like Plan International USA, Hobsons believes education is the key to a brighter future.
Hobsons helps students identify their strengths, explore careers, create academic plans, match to best-fit educational opportunities, and reach their education and life goals. Through the company solutions and services, Hobson enables thousands of educational institutions to improve college and career planning, admissions and enrollment management, and student success and advising for millions of students around the globe.
Hobsons’ partnership with Plan aligns with its company vision and mission to globally expand students’ access to high-quality educational opportunities. The partnership began in 2006 and focuses on school improvement programs for children living in marginalized communities.
“We’re proud to continue to support Plan International in its vital work to make sure students across the global have equal access to adequate learning facilities,” said Hobsons CEO Craig Heldman. “This long-standing partnership is important to our employee engagement and social responsibility efforts connecting our daily work to the larger vision.”
Each year, Hobsons selects education-development initiatives in countries where Plan works. Programs include building new classrooms and facilities, making infrastructure improvements, and providing supplies for teachers and students.
In the past, these projects have taken place in Namibia, Nicaragua, Malaysia, Guatemala, Laos, Kenya, Vietnam, Bolivia, Ghana, Rwanda, and the Dominican Republic. Employees travel to the Plan site to witness the progress, visit with students, and meet with Plan staff to learn more about the incredible work taking place.
Employee-driven events occur throughout the year to fundraise for Plan initiatives as well. Competitions are held, and employees take part in specialty lunch gatherings, bake sales, book sales, and more. Employees can also show their support by automatically contributing a percentage of their earnings.
In addition to the Plan partnership, employees participate in volunteering opportunities with local educational organizations. In the Hobsons Cincinnati office, employees mentor students through Adopt-A-Class, a local nonprofit that provides a group mentoring experience that connects businesses and civic groups with students. During the annual Hobsons employee Plan trips, the Adopt-A-Class students often follow updates on the Hobsons employee blog and participate in activities related to the trip.
