WARWICK, R.I., – Plan International USA today announced the appointment of Shanna Marzilli, a 15-year veteran of the health care and policy sectors, as the organization’s Chief Marketing Officer.
"We are delighted to welcome Shanna to Plan International USA," said Tessie San Martin, President and Chief Executive Officer. "She brings a tremendous amount of experience building brands, as well as driving growth through a multi-channel business platform. We look forward to the many contributions she will make leading our marketing and outreach efforts."
Before joining Plan, Marzilli was Chief Marketing Officer at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI), where she led the marketing, product development, customer experience, consumer activation, and corporate communications functions.
Marzilli said, "I am excited to join Plan International USA and be part of improving the lives of millions of children, and their families, around the world. This is a meaningful opportunity to lead strategic and creative marketing campaigns that will so positively impact entire communities in our program countries. I look forward to working with the talented team across the Plan Federation to create compelling and differentiated marketing campaigns to enhance the effectiveness of our programs."

Following four years in that role, she was named Assistant Vice President for Corporate Compliance and Ethics. In that role, Marzilli created BCBSRI’s Corporate Compliance & Ethics Program, which included administration of the Code of Conduct, management of all state and federal regulatory compliance programs, and compliance with Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association requirements.
A graduate of Providence College, Marzilli is currently a member of the Board of Governors for Leadership Rhode Island and the Rhode Island Breastfeeding Coalition, after serving previously on the boards of March of Dimes and the Literacy Volunteers of Rhode Island.
