Youth Advisory Board Member
Having spent nearly four years as a youth member of Plan International, Sara is no stranger to humanitarian work.
When she discovered that only a handful of her classmates were aware of grave global problems, she created a Global Action and Awareness chapter at her school. The chapter spreads social awareness about global issues, facilitates major philanthropic events, and helps Plan meet its fundraising goals.
Each quarter, the chapter selects an issue and decides on a fundraising strategy. Over the years, the chapter has focused on the following topics: lack of water and sanitation in underdeveloped nations, gender inequality, climate change, and children’s education.
As a YAB member, Sara has been fortunate enough to work with multiple bright-minded individuals, take part in Plan discussions, and learn about various global issues.
Sara Samir is from Long Island, New York and plans to study business and political science or international relations.
