Sarah Havekost

Associate Director, Campaign and Senior Technical Advisor, Education

Sarah Havekost is the Associate Director of Plan International USA’s fundraising campaign, which funds innovative global programs that place adolescent girls in the driver’s seat of development. She also serves as the Senior Technical Advisor for Education, leading the technical direction of the education portfolio, as well as new business development.

Ms. Havekost is a proven leader and problem-solver dedicated to driving effective organizational change through inclusive management and team development. She has demonstrated success in leveraging strategic plans to increase competitiveness on large, multi-faceted U.S. Department of State and USAID-funded projects, with a focus on education and adolescent girls’ rights and development. Sarah has more than 20 years of experience managing global program initiatives and lived for eight years in north and sub-Saharan Africa. Her work demonstrates a deep commitment to the development of safe, equitable and quality learning environments that tap into the potential of all people, regardless of gender, ethnicity, religion or disability status. 

Ms. Havekost holds a master’s degree in French literature from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is fluent in French.
