Senior Director - Youth and Economic Empowerment
Sarka Sengezener, an expert in international development, economic growth, and youth programming, joined Plan International USA in 2011. She currently leads the Youth and Economic Empowerment practice to address the challenges young people face in their communities around the world. The issues span from youth unemployment, radicalization, and disengagement to issues of gangs and domestic violence.
For more than 20 years, Sarka has been working in the public and private sectors, with 15 of those years focused on international development. She has managed large and complex bilateral and multilateral donor-funded projects around the world. Sarka holds a Master’s degree in International Affairs and Public Policy from the University of Pittsburgh and a Master’s degree in Economics and International Trade from the University of Economics in Prague, Czech Republic.
