My Name is Zumiyan

I am a 16 year old boy

Zumiyan and family live in a community in the East Nusa Tenggara province. Beaches, low scrub bushes, rocky hills and mountains make up the landscape. Very few roads are paved and they are often impassable during the rainy season. Most houses are made of wood and bamboo. Medical services are not readily available. Many families have their own plots of land. The main crop grown is corn. There is a primary school in each village, but distance, heavy rain and the family's need for additional labor can hinder a child's attendance. The families are working hard to improve their lives. Your help is greatly appreciated.

I am a 16 year old girl

Elizabeth-Juma and family live in a rural community in the northern region of Tanzania. Most people work as farmers, earning their income from day to day. The water supply is unpredictable and storage capacity is minimal. Sewage system and sanitary waste disposal systems are needed. Most homes consist of mud and grass with dirt floors. There is no electricity and most families cook over and open fire using firewood as fuel. Classrooms are overcrowded and lack basic facilities such as libraries and lavoratories. There are very few health centers to accommodate the immediate needs of the population. Your sponsorship will help this family provide for a better future.

My Name is Misbahou

I am a 16 year old boy

Misbahou and family live in a small sparsely furnished house. Lack of clean drinking water and poor sanitation make disease and ill-health common for most children and their families. Although the common diet of rice, fish and vegetables is nutritious, most people, especially the children, do not have enough to eat. Most of the family income is spent on food. Malaria and stomach ailments are common. Schools are overcrowded. Health centers need more equipment, medicines and supplies. The families are working hard to improve their lives. Your help is greatly appreciated.

My Name is Flora

I am a 16 year old girl

Flora and family live in a rural community. People farm to feed their families and earn money. Narrow dirt roads wind throughout the villages. During the rainy season they become muddy and hazardous. Streams and rivers are commonly used for washing, drinking and bathing. There are primary and junior high schools but no preschools available. Classrooms are overcrowded. There are shortages of school supplies and textbooks. Health centers are scarce. Those that do exist have shortages of equipment, medicines and personnel. People, who can afford one, use generating units or solar panels for their electric energy needs because the local network operates only in the main county. The families are working hard to improve their lives. Your help is greatly appreciated.
