Faria

Youth Advisory Board Member

University of Nevada, Las Vegas

Faria (she/they) is a student at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where she is majoring in public health. She is a health researcher, volunteer coordinator and community health worker and is part of the advisory council for Healthy Young Nevada, which aims to provide young people access to comprehensive and necessary health guidance and resources. She has worked with Mental Health America and the Born This Way Foundation to promote community building and qualitative mental health care.

Faria joined Plan USA’s Youth Advisory Board at the beginning of 2021 and participated in the 2021 International Day of the Girl Takeover at AstraZeneca, as well as the 78th United Nations General Assembly in 2023. During her time on the YAB, Faria has chaired the YLA Grants subcommittee and worked with Plan International’s Youth for Education in Emergencies, a global panel of youth leaders focusing on education rights for youth in conflict and crises. She has been continuously enthusiastic about uplifting excluded voices in the community and supporting juvenile justice, LGBTQIA+ and socioeconomic equity in health care access, mental health access, and migrant and refugee human rights.

In her free time, Faria loves to skateboard recreationally and do contemporary dance.
