James Michel is the CEO of Access Health CT and a key leader in the organization’s growth and success, with major contributions in multiple areas of the enterprise.

Before his role at Access Health CT, James was a director for Fortune 50 corporations and a controller of a $120-million municipal agency. Throughout his career, he has had significant responsibility in corporate, entrepreneurial, public, quasi-public and nonprofit organizations, and has earned numerous professional accreditations including Chartered Life Underwriter, Chartered Financial Consultant and Registered Health Underwriter.

James’ high-level responsibility and achievement in managing audit and financial functions of a Fortune 50 corporation, a state agency and a municipal agency include involvement with a former elected public official and an extensive record of community leadership. James is a chairman and volunteer for Outreach to Haiti, a nonprofit organization that provides health services, education sponsorships and orphanage support in Haiti. He also chairs the board of directors for Jumoke Academy, a charter school in Hartford, Connecticut focused on successfully preparing young people for the global marketplace. In addition, he sits on the board of Suffield Academy, a private boarding/day college preparatory school in Suffield, Connecticut; the Urban League of Greater Hartford; and the School of Nursing at the University of Hartford.

James holds a master’s degree in business from the University of Hartford and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Brooklyn College, with honorable service in the Connecticut Army National Guard and U.S. Army Reserve.
