For the past two decades, in a variety of leadership roles, Michele has stewarded Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island’s mission as a trusted health insurer and community partner.
Today, as executive vice president, chief administrative officer, chief legal officer and secretary of the board of directors, Michele cultivates and fosters Blue Cross’s relationships with government, community and business leaders, including ongoing collaboration on health care reform. Her wide-ranging areas of oversight include: legal services; government relations; corporate compliance and ethics; enterprise risk management; audit; human resources; corporate communications; and corporate social responsibility. Prior to joining the company in 1999, Michele worked as an attorney in private practice with a specialty in healthcare. She holds a J.D. from Boston University School of Law, an M.P.H. from Boston University School of Public Health and an A.B. with honors from Brown University.
Michele serves as secretary of the board of the Rhode Island Public Expenditure Council, vice chair of the board of the Rhode Island Free Clinic, and on the boards of Plan International USA, Downtown Providence Parks Network and Providence Foundation.
