Emory University

Soha (she/her) is a freshman and Woodruff Scholar at Emory University, where she plans to study neuroscience, behavioral biology and public policy analysis. She is an active member of the Emory chapters of the Climate Reality Project and Planned Parenthood Generation Action, carrying on her passion for climate justice and gender advocacy from high school. Recently, her genetics research with Texas Children’s Hospital was published in the American Journal of Medical Genetics.

Soha joined Plan USA’s Youth Advisory Board in 2023. She had previously attended the YLA in 2021, through which she initiated Green Allies and Environmental Advocacy (a youth-led space for climate conversations) and was inspired to take action as the chair of her high school’s sustainability committee. Through Plan, she was also involved in the Innovations Hub with The Body Shop for their youth equality campaign in 2021 and an International Day of the Girl Takeover at AstraZeneca in 2022.

In her free time, Soha enjoys dancing on Emory’s Karma Bhangra team, listening to the entire Taylor Swift discography and learning American sign language.

Quote: “I am beyond excited to join this extremely talented group of changemakers advocating for gender equality at the policy level and ensuring women’s rights are viewed holistically with other crises, like climate change.”
