Senior Director - Leadership and Capacity Development
Sue Richiedei has been working in international development for more than 30 years, serving in various technical and management roles including training, capacity building, evaluation, advocacy, and service delivery throughout Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.
In her current role, she provides management and financial oversight to a $35 million portfolio of projects that focus on literacy, early childhood education, gender-based violence, orphans and vulnerable children, women’s leadership, and institutional capacity strengthening.
Prior to working at Plan, Sue worked for the Centre for Development and Population Activities (CEDPA), an international women’s nongovernmental organization (NGO), where she served as the Advocacy Director for Reproductive Health on government-funded policy projects, and as the Africa Regional Director before assuming the role of Director of Leadership and Capacity Building. In that position and building on the organization’s 37-year history in promoting women’s empowerment, Sue launched the WomenLead workshop series to enhance women’s personal and technical leadership in HIV, peace-building, and reproductive health. In addition, with support from the ExxonMobil Foundation’s Women’s Economic Opportunity Initiative, she launched the Global Women in Management (GWIM) Program and Alumni Coaching Program in 2005.
Sue has a Master’s degree in Human Resource Development from George Washington University. For project inquiries, please email Sue.Richiedei@Planusa.org.
