Plan is strengthening the community-based disaster risk reduction capability of 40 vulnerable barangays in the Typhoon Haiyan-impacted municipalities of Tacloban (Leyte), Basey (Samar), and Giporlos and Guiuan (Eastern Samar).
The project focuses on covering gaps and enhancing the disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM) capacities of local government units at the barangay level. It also enhances the resilience of local barangay populations through community-based DRRM interventions and incorporates a child-centered disaster risk reduction approach, enabling children and youth to advocate for their communities’ DRR needs before the local government development councils.
Overall, the project directly benefits a total of 46,653 individuals from 40 barangays.
