Letter writing FAQs

How often will my sponsored child write to me?
The more you write, the more letters you’ll receive! Children love to receive photographs from their sponsors, which they proudly display in their homes. We are always touched to hear from former sponsored children who still treasure their sponsors’ letters and photos, even decades later.

What should I write about?
For many sponsored children, this may be the only mail they have ever received. Whether it’s a letter, card, or quick note, your child will be glad to know they have a friend on the other side of the world who genuinely cares.
Share news about your life, and ask your sponsored child about their family, friends, hobbies, and favorite subjects in school.

How long will it take to receive a response?
Your letter may travel halfway around the globe to reach your sponsored child! After arriving at our program office, it will be translated into your child’s language. A volunteer may walk miles or ride a moped to deliver your letter. We work in some remote areas, and there may be delays due to weather or road conditions. The entire journey may take a few months, but the smile your letter brings to your child’s face will be worth the wait!
