Saudah Jannat (she/her)
Youth Advisory Board Member
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
Saudah (she/her) is a sophomore and Morehead-Cain Scholar at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she studies political science and global studies on top of pursuing a music minor. She is passionate about migrant and economic inequality through her involvement with Hanan Foundation in Istanbul, Turkey, where she worked as an English teacher for refugee children last summer. This also extended into working with the Baltimore City Office of Equity and Civil Rights Women’s Commission to create a successful female cardiovascular health initiative in the city.
Originally hailing from Gloucestershire, United Kingdom, she served as vice-president of her educational inequality nonprofit Scholars for Society UK, where she hosted conferences and workshops to bridge the gap of political education and involvement for state school teens. She also serves as an ambassador for youth political advocacy group I Have a Voice CIC, having represented the organization in multiple capacities at the UK Parliament and as a representative in the European Youth Parliament UK. She still gives back as a mentor and speaker to the Sutton Trust U.S. Programme and Fulbright U.S.-U.K. Commission as a first-generation alum of their program.
Quote: “I am excited to develop YAB and Plan into something bigger and better, and learn from other passionate advocates and activists too.”
