Asia and Pacific

Plan International works in 19 countries across a region that is home to 60% of the world’s youth. This is a region of remarkable diversity and energy — and one where girls and young people are driving change every day. But across much of the region, deep inequalities persist, shaped by harmful norms, poverty and the growing threat of climate change. Too many girls are still being held back from the futures they deserve.

Our focus

We support children across the region from birth to adulthood — helping them cope with crisis and adversity and building the conditions for them to thrive long term. Our work focuses on keeping girls in school, ending child marriage, protecting children from violence, and ensuring young people can access the healthcare, skills, and economic opportunity.

Asia-Pacific is one of the most disaster-prone regions in the world. When typhoons, floods, and earthquakes strike, girls and young women are often the hardest hit and the last to receive support. We work to make sure they are protected in a crisis — and that their voices shape how communities prepare and respond, because those most affected deserve the biggest say in finding solutions.

None of this happens without changing the systems where girls live and work. That’s why we also work alongside communities, local organizations, and governments to shift the laws, attitudes, and systems that hold girls back — and why we invest in girls as leaders, advocates, and changemakers who have the power to transform their communities.
