How your Gifts of Hope plant seeds of possibility

What if your holiday gifts could keep making a difference all year long?

When you honor a loved one with a Gift of Hope, that’s exactly what you’re doing — you’re choosing a gift that keeps giving back long after the holidays end.

Our holiday gift catalog is filled with dozens of meaningful ways to create lasting change. Your Gift of Hope can provide essential resources like clean water, education and healthcare where they’re needed most. Each gift creates opportunities, supports dreams and plants seeds that grow into something bigger than you might expect.

Here are just some of the ways that your Gifts of Hope can make a lasting difference for children, especially girls, and communities around the world.

Clean water creates a powerful ripple effect

In Indonesia, 14-year-old Eci used to wake before dawn each day to make the dangerous trek down a steep, snake-filled path to collect water for her family. The long, tiring walks often made Eci late for school.

But that all changed when Plan installed a water pump, electricity meter and 14 public taps connected through a network of pipes in Eci’s community.

ā€œNow, in the mornings, I help Mama cook first, then I wash and get ready for school,ā€ Eci says. ā€œI’m never late, and the teachers don’t ask us to bring water to school anymore.ā€

Emergency medical care saves children’s lives

In Haiti, 4-year-old Samuel’s family fled gang violence in Port-au-Prince with nothing but the clothes on their backs. When Samuel developed severe tonsil problems requiring emergency surgery, the high cost seemed impossible.

But through Plan International’s emergency medical support, Samuel received the lifesaving care that he needed.

"I had an operation on my throat,ā€ Samuel shares. ā€œI wasn’t afraid. I was strong."

"I was overjoyed when Plan International accepted my request to cover the cost of the operation," Samuel’s mother Marceline says. "This is the best thing that has happened this year." | Ā©Plan International

A backpack helps girls stay in school

In Vietnam, Typhoon Yagi cut off the roads to SĆ o’s school, forcing the 15-year-old to miss a week of classes. When she returned to her school dormitory, she found all of her books and notebooks soaked and ruined.

As part of Plan’s emergency response, SĆ o received a learning kit that included a new backpack. For SĆ o, having the right school supplies makes all the difference.

"Now that I have a backpack, going to school is so much easier and I don’t have to worry about my books getting wet or damaged,ā€ SĆ o says.

"I will study hard so that one day I can help my family, so that my parents and brothers don’t have to struggle anymore." | Ā©Plan International

Livestock helps young entrepreneurs thrive

In Benin, young entrepreneurs like Prisca are building thriving businesses with livestock training and startup support from Plan, not only transforming their lives but improving their community’s economy.

Within three months of establishing her business, Prisca built a farm with over 200 chickens and 185 quails.

ā€œI feel more than capable of running my own business and now I want to specialize in breeding quails and producing quail eggs,’’ Prisca shares.
